Here are some of our most frequently asked questions (click to read the answers)

Once you have completed the “contact us” form on our website, you will be immediately added to the waiting list. Look out for the confirmation e-mail, please note this is done manually so can take a couple of days to arrive. The e-mail may, on occasion, go to your junk folder.
The waiting list is currently very lengthy; therefore, you may be required to wait for several months. We can never give an exact start date as it depends on the progression of our current clients.
Futureworks takes students on from year 10. We also have an adult’s programme that will help any adult needing support.
Futureworks does not begin working with any clients that are registered at a school. Our Home Education programme requires all clients to be completely deregistered with the approval of the Home Education Officer.
Yes! Once you reach year 9, we are able to add you to our waiting list. Enquiries for anyone younger than this will not be accepted. Please note that you will not be able to start at Futureworks until Year 10.
We do not offer anyone a place until they have attended a meet and greet. It is important to us that we can meet your need and that we are the right fit for you.
Futureworks offers Functional Skills in both Maths and English, this is up to Level 2.
Functional Skills is a client friendly alternative to GCSE. These qualifications will allow you to progress into further education.
When beginning Futureworks you do an assessment in both Maths and English. This allows us to understand you as a client better. It gives us information on what level you are working at and what areas we need to work on with you in order to achieve the qualification. We then build you a personalised package of work that staff will be on hand to support you with in a more relaxed and friendly environment.
Class sizes are never any bigger than 8. This allows us to focus on the client as an individual and support them in reaching their full potential.
We highly recommend taking a look at passfunctionalskills.co.uk , on this site you have revision videos, worksheet questions and answers to every unit at every level of Functional Skills. This will give you a head start when it comes to attending Futureworks.
Nothing at all! When you begin you can access everything we have to offer at no cost. We are a charity so if at any point you wish to donate, we would be more than grateful.
We are currently extremely busy so do not offer tours at this stage of your application. Once you reach the top six on the waiting list you will be contacted and invited in for a meet and greet with your Keyworker. This is your opportunity to look around the facilities, meet the team and ask any questions you may have.
Yes! Futureworks offers lots of different activities away from the Functional Skills. We have our workshop where clients get given the opportunity to upcycle furniture whilst learning how to use different tools and equipment. We also offer Work Experience in our furniture shop where clients build confidence and learn the ins and outs of retail. There is also a weekly arts and craft session and a weekly gym session.
Futureworks sessions are built to meet the individual needs of our clients. These will include Functional Skills Maths and English sessions, workshop sessions, art, gym, work experience in our shop and lots of exciting trips throughout the year. All our sessions are designed to build confidence, promote wellbeing and build life skills.
As a charity we try to help as many local people as we can. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with some information about yourself and we will see what we can do to help you!
